Mostly unnoticed, all art emerged from handicraft. The clay turns to a pot, the wood is whittled to a veena, the nylons weaved into a net, the rocks chiselled down to sculptures. Behind these liberations are hands - hardened, dirty, and blistered - that weave, mould, mix and fold to bring together vagrant elements to produce, to create something. Across the various landscapes of South India are many anonymous artisans, often shadowed by their own creations, carrying about their everyday chore of creating art.
